World Cannabis Congress Announces Commerce Giant Shopify as Speaker

Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada (April 25, 2018) – The World Cannabis Congress is pleased to announce that Loren Padelford, Vice President and General Manager of Shopify will be speaking at the World Cannabis Congress, to provide insight into the robust needs of current and future cannabis retail models.

Loren Padelford is the Vice President and General Manager of Shopify, where he oversees their commerce solutions for high-growth merchants and leads the regulated products team, providing safe, secure and reliable commerce capabilities to the cannabis, alcohol and pharmaceuticals industries. Loren also helps lead Shopify's Retail go-to-market-team, focused on redefining the in-store experience for both retailers and consumers.

“The cannabis industry is entering a new phase of their development as regulated retailers at a time when retail is fundamentally changing. Canada has a unique opportunity to lead the world in the areas of production, regulation and technology,” says Padelford. “I look forward to sharing these insights at the World Cannabis Congress, and discussing how Shopify is powering cannabis retailers both in Canada and around the world.”

“In addition to creating a global event, the World Cannabis Congress is concentrating on business,” says Derek Riedle, World Cannabis Congress co-chair and Publisher of Civilized. “As we enter this historic moment in Canada, it is important that we facilitate conversations between both cannabis and mainstream industry leaders to foster collaboration and innovation – and that’s exactly why we wanted Shopify at the event.”

The World Cannabis Congress, presented by Civilized, is set to take place June 10 – 12, 2018. It is Canada’s premier international event for connecting global industry leaders.
