Civilized Deepens Leadership Strength with New VP, Events and Experiences

Shannon Hunter will bring new B2C and B2B event platforms to life for Civilized and its strategic partners

Los Angeles, CA and Saint John, NB (January 17, 2019) – After successfully creating and producing premium, world-class events in the cannabis space over the past year, Shannon Hunter has been named Civilized’s new Vice President, Events and Experiences. Hunter takes the position after bringing a string of highly successful events to market, such as the exclusive World Cannabis Congress and the “A Civilized Conversation with Chelsea Handler” tour. In her new role, Hunter will create compelling events for Civilized and its partners, including mainstream brands, to both grow and monetize audiences.

“The cannabis space is exploding right now and the opportunities to produce incredible events are endless,” says Hunter. “Civilized is a go-to source for new, innovative activations that build brand awareness, galvanize growing audiences and solidify credibility as the cannabis industry evolves. I’m excited to help our clients in North America, and in international markets, reach their goals through smart strategy and unique experiences.”

Hunter has over a decade of experience developing marketing strategies and events that provide direct ROI to sponsors and partners. She has worked in senior marketing positions for Medavie Blue Cross, Imvescor Restaurant Group Inc. and the Government of New Brunswick. Her specialties include strategic planning, marketing, project management, product development and corporate event management.

“Shannon has an impressive track record in an area of our business that’s rapidly taking off,” says Derek Riedle, Publisher of Civilized. “Under her direction, the first World Cannabis Congress was extraordinarily successful. She has what it takes to deliver for our clients – the ability to surprise and delight guests with fantastic experiences, and execute events that have a direct impact on the bottom line.”

Hunter will lead a growing team of event directors in Civilized’s offices across North America, including San Francisco and Venice in California, and Toronto and Saint John in Canada. As part of her new position, she will spearhead a number of marquee events including the second annual World Cannabis Congress, the North American expansion of both the Moonlight Bazaar night festival and The 420 Games, a series of events with Business of Cannabis, and upcoming event activations for Civilized strategic partners and clients.
