Los Angeles, CA (August 9, 2016)—Civilized appointed three key executives to its leadership team to further position the media company as a pre-eminent source of online cannabis news and video content. Brandon Killion has been named EVP, Civilized Studios; Katie Labrie has been named EVP, Civilized Studios; and Andrew Barrett has been named VP, Marketing and Audience Development.
Unlike other cannabis media, Civilized is an independently owned media company and 360-degree lifestyle brand that appeals to a previously untapped audience of millions of motivated, productive adults who choose to enjoy cannabis as part of a balanced lifestyle.

Brandon Killion began his career as an attorney before moving to Los Angeles in 2004 to join Thom Beers' Original Productions. At Original, he was responsible for developing, producing, and show-running such series as Discovery Channel's Swords: Life on the Line, History's Ice Road Truckers and A&E's American Hoggers before joining Gurney Productions as VP of Production. At Gurney, Brandon oversaw the creation of hundreds of hours of content and Co-Executive Produced such series as A&E's Duck Dynasty, Auction Hunters for Spike and Discovery Channel's American Guns before accepting an Executive Vice President of Programming and Development position at Cineflix Media, the international production company behind HGTV's Property Brothers and History's American Pickers. He will focus on video content development, production and partnerships at Civilized Studios.
Katie Labrie specializes in content acquisition and development with a focus on bringing Canadian programming to the U.S. In her previous role as Vice-President at PPI Releasing, Katie distributed over one thousand hours of Canadian content stateside and currently has series airing on broadcast syndication, cable and digital platforms. Prior to her work in television, Katie was a development executive at Digital Domain and AWOL Pictures. At Civilized, she’ll focus on bringing both national and global content to the broadest audience possible, and focus on crafting a user-centric, multi-platform strategy of compelling content.
Andrew Barrett is a digital marketing strategist who specializes in creating and executing innovative campaigns that increase brand awareness, customer acquisition, engagement, retention and ROI. Andrew has led numerous successful, integrated digital marketing campaigns for a broad portfolio of brands including FailArmy, Jukin Video, Dove Channel, and CONtv to name a few. He is an award-winning writer with a background in theatre and television production, having worked on a variety of shows for ABC/Disney, Showtime and E! Entertainment. At Civilized, he’ll focus on digital and social media strategy, and growing the audience base as the company continues to expand its reach across North America.
