What Would Happen If You Smoked Marijuana on Top of Mount Everest?

Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world peaking at 29,029 feet above sea level, sitting between the international border separating China from Nepal. The mountain attracts some of the most experienced climbers and travelers from across the world to climb thousands of feet for an experience of a lifetime.

While climbing Mt. Everest and any high-altitude mountain, weather is a major roadblock for climbers with constant temperature and wind changes. For this reason, people choose to climb Mt. Everest in May each year during the “summit window” when the jet stream moves north causing the winds to calm and temperatures to warm enough for people to try to summit. In addition to feeling excitement, when climbers finally reach the top of Mt. Everest they may feel ill. Climbing high altitudes like Mt. Everest has an effect on the body due to the of lack of Oxygen caused by the change in air pressure. This lack of Oxygen may result in dizziness, which certainly does and will not mix well with marijuana. So the next time you’re thinking of smoking while on the top of Mt. Everest, don’t.

After a battery of tests and misdiagnoses, I was finally diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease twelve years ago, and thus began a long battle with trial-and-error medical treatments. I changed my diet several times, even though my doctors didn’t seem confident it would change much (it didn’t), went to physical therapy for pain-related issues, and took so many different pharmaceuticals I can’t even begin to recall each and every one. My days were foggy due to side effects from pharmaceuticals, such as steroids, that made me feel worse than I did before I even took them.
