What is Blue Dream?

If you’ve been to the west coast of the United States recently, you've probably heard of a popular cannabis strain called Blue Dream. This potent strain was created during the early 2000s in Santa Cruz, California, and it is so well-loved that comedian Tommy Chong chose to include Blue Dream as one of the products sold at his designer marijuana shop in Denver, Chong's Choice.

Blue Dream is sometimes called Blueberry Haze, as this sativa-dominant hybrid descends from the strains Blueberry (indica) and Super Silver Haze (sativa). It's known for having an aroma of sweet, tangy berries with notes of citrus, earth, and pepper, and smooth smoke that tastes of sugar and blueberries when exhaled. In addition to consistently testing levels between 20-25% Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), we also know that Blue Dream has high contents of several terpenes like alpha-Pinene, which has antibacterial, antibiotic, and anti-asthmatic properties.

Other medical properties of Blue Dream include a balanced mixed of euphoric cerebral effects and a mild relaxation that washes over one's entire body. Blue Dream has mentally stimulating effects that uplift spirits, relieve feelings of anxiety and depression, and calms racing thoughts. Also, while this strain is used to treat physical symptoms such as pain and nausea, the effects are not so potent that they induce heavy sedation.

These effects are fast-acting and long-lasting, making them a great choice for medical patients and recreational users who want to be alert or active. However, we must remember that each consumer will experience the effects differently, and there can sometimes be slight variances in each batch of Blue Dream you encounter, depending on the phenotypes from which it was bred.

If you plan on growing Blue Dream on your own, prepare for plants that grow vigorously (sometimes tall and spindly) and produce high yields (of up to 430 grams per square meter of the plant) after 60-70 days. The flowers grow into dense, hard buds that turn various shades of blue and are covered with long, brown hairs and a thick layer of swollen trichomes. You must also be wary of powdery mildew and spider mites, of which Blue Dream is susceptible.

Now, in order to demonstrate the cannabis plant's medical clout, GoFire, a new dispensation product and app based out of Denver, isd taking a community based approach.
