We Now Know Why Women Have Multiple Orgasms (and Why Men Don't)

Finally, some science news we can get behind: researchers have figured out why and how women experience multiple orgasms.

A team of scientists at the International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health conducted a study wherein more than 2,000 women and their orgasms were examined over a three-year period (a research phase that involved exactly what you’d imagine.)

What they found was that after the first orgasm, women used different techniques in terms of pressure and movement to reach a second, third or even fourth orgasm, thanks to increased sensitivity in the area.

In other words, if you want all her friends to hear about what an orgasm deity you are, you may want to consider rubbing a different spot or employing some alternate methods (otherwise she could actually be quite uncomfortable, not to mention inadequately satisfied.)

What stops women from having multiple orgasms?

Furthermore, scientists found this kind of fondling monotony to be the only thing stopping women from reaching that holy place more than once, since the female body doesn’t need time to recover from an orgasm like the male body does.

What stops men from having multiple orgasms?

When it comes to men, it’s fairly obvious what’s stopping them from achieving multiple orgasms, the scientists concluded. Men have a long refractory phase after they orgasm, since their bodies need to produce more sperm and semen before they can orgasm again.

Researcher Debby Herbenick explains that if you are one of those dudes who can keep going right after they orgasm, anything that comes afterward isn’t considered “functional ejaculations, but ejaculations of pride and indulgence, where sperm count falls dramatically."

Now, hit the sheets; you (or hopefully her, assuming you gave this article your undivided attention) will thank us later.
