Trump Is Set To Spend More On Travel In One Year Than Obama Did In Eight

For a guy who spent so much time frothing at the mouth on Twitter about his predecessor's travel expenses, President Donald Trump sure knows how to rack up a hefty travel bill.

Trump’s travel expenses over one year are on track to surpass spending for the entirety of Barack Obama’s eight-year term, Fortune reports.

As reported by CNN, Trump’s frequent visits to his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida have cost about $21.6-million. A 2016 accountability report found that a four-day trip by Obama in 2013 cost about $3.6-million, largely infused into Secret Service and Coast Guard services.

Overall, Obama spent less than $97-million on travel expenses throughout his eight years in office, according to right-leaning watchdog organization Judicial Watch.

Trump is set to outspend Obama by the end of the year, having already visited Mar-a-Lago six times.

First Lady Melania Trump currently lives in the penthouse unit of Trump Tower in Manhattan while son Baron is still in school. The city of New York spends an estimated $127,000 to $146,000 each day for security, according to police estimates by the New York Times, equalling roughly $50-60 million each year.
