This Toronto-based Company Says It’ll Pay You To Smoke Weed

AHLOT, a Toronto-based cannabis firm, put out a call for five cannabis aficionados to test some of the best pot that "Canada’s growers have to offer".

Oh yeah, they’re willing to pay you, too.

We know what you’re thinking - There’s no way this is a real job. Alas, it is. To prove it, the company even secured its URL as See? Told you, Mom!

The net is cast wide, and anybody who wants to apply via their website can do so. But, ultimately, the company only plans to hire five candidates. According to the site, those selected will be paid $50 an hour for a maximum of 16 hours a month to test some professional-grade legal cannabis. This means that the particularly ambitious can earn upwards of $800 in this position.

Those in the position will also be asked to write social media posts, appear in videos and make appearances at company events, although they say participation in these aspects of the job is optional.

While it’s been projected that the burgeoning legal cannabis industry will create over 340,000 full-time jobs by 2022, we don’t know if anyone could have predicted that some of them would be like this.

The deadline for applications is Oct. 17, which, not coincidentally, is the official date for legalized recreational sales in the country. Try not to crash the site, people.

Last December, America officially legalized hemp with the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill. The new law is a game-changer for the agricultural industry in America as farmers can now start growing and selling the non-intoxicating cannabis crop across the country. But it will be a while before the United States can top the world's biggest hemp producer.
