'Tis the season for having a puff, and gathering around the TV for a Christmas movie or two with friends and family. Some may go for the classics like It's A Wonderful Life, while others might want a more modern tale like Will Ferrell's Elf.

To make your viewing decisions easier this season, we've selected the 10 best Christmas movies ever.

10. Die Hard

This staple of Christmas movie lists everywhere is chock-full of special moments that are sure to put you in mind of chestnuts roasting by open fires, tiny reindeer feet pitter-pattering on rooftops, and softly-falling snowflakes.

Here are 10 of the top moments, as compiled by the Youtube channel WatchMojo.

9. Die Hard

Since you're reading a cannabis culture publication, you might like a Christmas movie to have a link to cannabis. No problem. Actor Clarence Gilyard, who played Hans' tech specialist in Die Hard, also played a student in season 4, episode 2 of the television show "Diff'rent Strokes". The plot of the episode, titled "First Day Blues", follows the show's star character Willis agreeing to buy marijuana so that he might attend a party with upperclassmen.

8. Die Hard

It's a good movie and belongs on this list. 'Nuff said.

7. Die Hard

As you can see from this 1988 trailer for the Yuletide favorite Die Hard, the last thing John McClane wanted was to be a hero, but for millions of people who love Christmas, he ended up being just that.

6. Die Hard

Don't celebrate Christmas? No problem. There is a Die Hard for you too.

5. Die Hard

Not everyone will agree with our fifth choice for the top 10 Christmas movies of all time, but we can all agree on the importance of its signature phrase "Yippee-ki-yay" in modern Christmas folklore. Sure, some versions of Santa use phrases like 'Ho, Ho, Ho' - but we all know and love the modern Santa's familiar, warm greeting of "Yippee-ki-yay", as immortalized in the Tennessee Ernie Ford classic "Rootin' Tootin' Santa Claus".

4. Die Hard

We assume, based on the laser-sharp focus and creativity of Die Hard's main character John McClane, actor Bruce Willis was using a little pot during filming.

It's possible. What we know for sure, though, is that Bruce Willis was smoking a lot of pot when he wasn't acting, as evidenced by this quote from Ask Men magazine.

"I only liked pot, though. I smoked a lot of pot and when I wasn't acting, I was out dancing every night."

3. Die Hard

This Christmas film, based on the novel Nothing Lasts Forever by Roderick Thorpe, is a classic not to be missed at Christmas.

2. Die Hard

This film was nearly too gruesome to be a Christmas film. In the classic scene where John McClane (played by Bruce Willis) pulls glass from his foot, there was originally an extra-gruesome sound effect, but producers made them take it out so the film would be more watchable. Very merry!

1. Die Hard

You might disagree with other films on our top ten list, but we're confident everyone can agree on the number 1 Christmas movie of all time.
