Let's All Celebrate World Water Day

Water is an essential building block of life, which is why March 22nd is dedicated to World Water Day. At the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development it was suggested they create an international day to celebrate and focus on the importance of freshwater. On March 22nd the following year, the world celebrated its first World Water Day.  States were invited to join in the celebration by devoting the entire day to promote public awareness of water related issues around the world. Each year, UN-Water -- a inter-agency coordination mechanism -- creates a theme for World Water Day. This year’s theme is wastewater, so don't waste any water today. Or tomorrow.
