Things You Can Carve That Aren't A Pumpkin

Your Halloween decor is in danger! According to Reuters, an uncharacteristically rainy June - mixed with the spread of vegetable blights and mildews - has ruined America's supply of pumpkins. That means you may have to improvise when it comes time to carve your jack-o'-lantern.

But don't worry, there are many alternatives that are sure to make your Halloween just as spooky.

1. Apples

Added bonus: the face will get even grislier as exposure to air browns the apple's face.

2. Milk jugs

OK, these aren't actually carved, but using a permanent marker is safer. And easier. Celebrate Halloween and recycle all at once!

3. Watermelons

The best part is that you can have a snack while hollowing out the rind.

4. Turnips

In Ireland, the turnip was the original jack-o'-lantern.

5. Pineapples

Looks like Spongebob's been evicted until Nov. 1.

If passed, a new bipartisan bill filed in the House of Representative this week would automatically seal some federal marijuana convictions. On Tuesday, Representatives Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE) and Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) introduced a new piece of legislation titled the Clean Slate Act. Under the new bill, individuals with federal cannabis convictions will automatically have their records sealed one year after they have completed their sentence.
