When hunting for a new job, it goes without saying that most people are also hunting for happiness.

If you’re one of those people, CareerBliss may be able to help by way of their most recent rankings of the happiest cities to work in. The job site, which offers company reviews and work postings, analyzed 20,000 employee reviews and only included cities that garnered 50 reviews or more over the last year.

In order to measure employee happiness, the survey looked at things like compensation, work environment and employees’ relationships with their superiors.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, California snagged several of the 25 slots for happiest cities – professionally speaking.

Santa Clara, a city of 126,215 people, was ranked first. The sunshine-heavy region plays host to a number of big-name companies, including computer chipmaker Intel and Applied Minerals, which makes chips and display screens.

Second on the list is Santa Clara’s next-door neighbor, San Jose. The city with the third-largest population in California is home to tech firms like Cisco, Adobe and eBay.

Portland, Oregon, came in third place. The city of more than half-a-million residents boasts companies like aircraft component manufacturer Precision Castparts and apparel company Columbia Sportswear.

Cincinnati, Ohio, with a population of nearly 300,000 people, nabbed fourth place. Proctor and Gamble (the largest consumer packaged-goods firm in the U.S.) and grocery store chain Kroger are headquartered there.

Of course, the merit of CareerBliss’s rankings would have to be called into question if San Francisco didn’t at least make the top five. Luckily, the 13th most populous city in the U.S. earned the title of fifth happiest city to work in, with its Bay area boasting more Fortune 500 headquarters than any other area except for the tri-state New York City region.
