'The Industry Has Just Scraped The Surface Of Cannabis Tech's Potential,' Says 270M Founder Sarah Remesch

Sarah Remesch is the managing editor of the cannabis lifestyle site Viride and the founder of 270M, a boutique creative and digital marketing shop that has shaped the art direction and styling of products like Cannador, MagicalButterNugTools and DaVinci, as well as social media strategy for Cannopoly.

We recently chatted with Sarah about life in the cannabis industry, the future of cannabis culture and her go-to fix for the munchies. 

Tell us about your typical day.

I spend most of my day working with my current client list at 270M to enhance their online profile and networking with cannabis industry executives to refine their marketing and branding.

Waking up always includes matcha or chai and I take the day from there—spending time on a creative executive or drumming up topics for Viride. I strive to learn something new about the industry every day, including the cool new products coming to market.

What's the biggest misconception about the marijuana industry?

The idea that everyone who works in the industry is also a substantial user of cannabis. Being knowledgeable about a product or service does not mean you are also using that product or service in your day to day routine.

What's one prediction you have for the marijuana industry five years from now?

Technology is going to provide new methods for both recreational and medical use of the plant. The industry has just scraped the surface of its potential and the applications are endless. Tech plays a major role in our consumption and new technologies will make ease of access to cannabis more efficient and effective for those using the product medicinally.

What is one change you'd like to see happen in the cannabis industry?

I’d like to see better recommendations of marketing and advertising for cannabis brands. The industry is truly a collective of individuals striving towards one goal. But, the advice given on how to build a brand to many individuals is not groundbreaking and/or working towards ending the stigma around cannabis. At my agency, 270M, we take our expertise in digital marketing and creative and apply that as a bespoke approach to working with clients.

What's your perfect setting to consume?

Festivals or live music events. Being lost in the music around you is a “high” that is only accelerated when you are enjoying flower. Music and cannabis both open our minds to new ideas and I find myself delving into some of my best thoughts when these two are married.

What is your go-to munchie?

Anything saucey.
