Teen Beats Ellen For Most Retweeted Tweet Of All Time

At the 2014 Oscars, host Ellen DeGeneres broke the internet with her group “selfie” that set the world record for the most retweets. However, as of 9:30 a.m. on May 9, 2017, this record was surpassed by 16-year-old Carter Wilkerson with 3,430,739 retweets. In April, Wilkerson tweeted at Wendy’s asking them, “Yo @Wendy’s how many retweets for a year of free chicken nuggets?”, to which they responded, “18 million”, so Wilkerson confidently tweeted back, “Consider it done.” By the next day, Wilkerson already had over 500,000 retweets, which even got the attention of some celebrities including Aaron Paul and Ellen herself. Although Wilkerson is millions of retweets away from reaching 18 million, Wendy’s deemed him a winner with of course, chicken nuggets and $100,000 for the Dave Thomas Foundation.

In a tweet last night President Donal Trump announced his new hire for White House Chief of Staff, Mick Mulvaney. Mulvaney is currently the director of the Office of Management and Budget as well as the Acting Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Once he starts the new job, Mulvaney may just be one of the biggest cannabis reform supporters in the White House, a potential boon for the legalization movement.
