Robots continue to take over, replacing humans, and now they’re taking over the cannabis industry. Before marijuana is sent to dispensaries, the green buds are pruned and trimmed of any leaves. Not only does the manicured weed look better, but it’s also better quality because although the trimmed leaves are part of the cannabis plant, they’re lower in THC concentration. Bloom Automation hopes to put this tedious task in the hands of their prototype robot which stands at three feet tall while holding a high-resolution camera and conveyor belt. The marijuana branches slide down the belt where the camera then takes pictures from all angles to determine which leaves to trim.
