There's an Island in New York City That No One's Allowed to Visit

New York City has plenty of islands. Long Island, Roosevelt Island, and Manhattan are just a few of the famous islands in and around the Big Apple. But did you know there's actually one island that no one is allowed to visit?

It's called Uthant Island, and it has a bizarre history that involves tunnel magnates, a religious group, a bird sanctuary and the United Nations. A guy from Vox Media decided to dig deeper into the mysterious Uthant Island, and even somewhat illegally visited it. 

Unfortunately, now this place is going to be the new hipster hotspot. Better add it to the list of gentrifying neighborhoods!
