New West Summit 3.0 Will Guide You Through What's Next For The Cannabis Industry

It’s touted as the “first conference to focus exclusively on the game-changing, disruptive developments in technology, investment and media within the cannabis space” – and it’s back for a third edition next weekend.

New West Summit 3.0 will take place at Oakland’s Marriott City Center Oct. 12-15, bringing 100 exhibitors, 45 panel discussions, and a massive industry job fair to an estimated 2,000+ cannabis enthusiasts over the course of three days.

“New West has consistently delivered thought-provoking and engaging programming appealing to a diverse group of gifted innovators and leaders in the cannabis space,” said Jim McAlpine, founder and producer of New West Summit, in a press release.

“I am proud to announce this year’s speakers, knowing the depth and scope of knowledge they bring with them to the event.”

This year's panelists include scientists, authors, accredited investors and successful entrepreneurs who will look at what’s next for branding, media, technology, non-profits, venture-backed startups, publicly traded companies and crowd-funding in the new 'green rush' industry of cannabis, hemp and beyond.

Key note speakers include Jason Silva, host of 'Brain Games' on National Geographic; George Clinton, founding member of Parliament (P-Funk); and Dave Morin, co-founder and CEO of Path. Civilized’s own Derek Riedle will also speak on a panel about cannabis media.

For those eyeing a new professional path themselves, the Bloom Farms Cannabis Career & Job Fair is back for another year. Attendees are encouraged to join dozens of employers and hundreds of fellow job seekers from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 15.

New to the Summit this year is a dedicated Consumer Day to be held on Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring sampling, education, exhibits and entertainment.

If you're hosting a celebration for 4/20, you may be looking for creative ways to spruce up old edible classics like chocolate chip pot cookies. And with the weather beginning to heat up, you may want to transform those simple pot cookies into cookies and cream popsicles. This recipe, designed by cannabis chef Monica Lo, creator of Sous Weed, is easy to execute and incorporates Original Pot Co.
