Montel Williams Says New Cannabis Line Will Serve 'Unique' Needs Of Patients

A brand of medical cannabis products recently launched by television personality Montel Williams will be produced through a new partnership with BAS Research Center, a Berkeley, California-based medical cannabis manufacturing and research group.

“Montel had been looking for a licensed producer to manufacture and help formulate a number of his products,” BAS Research chief operating officer Doug Chloupek told Civilized.

“After many meetings with Montel and [his] realizing what our abilities are in terms of the formulation and science and research component of BAS Research, he made the decision to utilize our services to manufacture his entire line of products.”

Williams, who suffers from multiple sclerosis and has used medical cannabis to help manage his symptoms for 17 years, held a soft launch for his new LenitivLabs brand of medical cannabis products at the recent Marijuana Business Conference & Expo in Las Vegas. The longtime host of The Montel Williams Show has been a vocal medical cannabis advocate for years, having worked to pass legislation in states including New Jersey, New York and Ohio.

“As the country trends towards greater acceptance of recreational use, I started LenitivLabs because it’s critical that we continue to meet the unique needs of medicinal cannabis patients, so the partnership with BAS was a natural one for us and one which I’m excited about,” said Williams in a press release.

Chloupek called BAS Research “California’s first licensed medical cannabis manufacturing and research group.“ The company’s website states that it’s “dedicated to developing breakthrough pharmaceutical grade marijuana products”, with its goal being to “replace the negative social stigma associated with cannabis, with an all-natural, bio-nutraceutical approach.”

Chloupek believes the partnership with Williams “helps reinforce the standard of excellence and purity that BAS strives to achieve.”

“To know that a product is made by BAS… [is to know] it’s a trusted product that’s safe for consumption,” said Chloupek.

While there is no date determined yet for the distribution of LenitivLabs products, they are slated to be made available throughout California collectives.

Pluto emerges from the same minds who launched the mental health and wellness-oriented CBD brand Hilani. But Pluto aspires to move beyond the terrestrial realm of wellness, and transport consumers to a world unhindered by time constraints and abounding in a diversity of characters peacefully coexisting.
