Michelle Obama Admits to Smoking Marijuana in Her New Memoir

Michelle Obama is offering a lot of honest opinions in her latest memoir, mostly about things related to the Trump presidency. But she also made a new revelation about her past marijuana use.

In the memoir, the former First Lady admits to smoking marijuana while she was a teenager. She mentions an old high school boyfriend and says they “fooled around and smoked pot in his car.” She also mentions her husband's "wilder" days when he was younger and smoked marijuana while living in Hawaii.

That's the extent of Michelle Obama's marijuana admissions in the book. However, ABC News anchor Robin Roberts asked the former First Lady why she decided to include that tidbit about marijuana. Obama said it was part of her story about who she is today and she didn't feel the need to hide it.

“That was what I did,” Obama said. “That’s part of the ‘Becoming’ story. Everybody had something that they had to work through, something that they were figuring out. Why would I hide that from the next generation?”

A recent poll found that more than half of all Americans have tried marijuana at some point in their lives, so perhaps it's not too shocking that the former First Lady would admit to doing so.

Of course, we're sure Fox News will somehow find a way to twist this into portraying her as a dangerous drug fiend.
