Scientists Used a Marijuana User's Urine to Conduct Electricity

If you've ever wondered whether your urine could be used to conduct electricity after smoking marijuana, for some reason scientists have confirmed that yes, you can.

Scientists are exploring the use of microbial fuel cells (MFCs) as a potential source of alternative energy in the future. Essentially, MFCs are tools that take chemical compounds or bacteria out of water or some other liquid (like urine), and use those chemical compounds to conduct electricity. Researchers in Turkey used MFCs to remove THC and other metabolites from a urine sample of a marijuana user. Using MFCs, they were able to remove 60 percent of the THC from the urine, and were able to use that THC to conduct electricity with a maximum voltage of 0.23 volts.

Now supposedly these researchers say this could be a potential breakthrough. They say that metabolites in marijuana can enter our water system and cause stress to the aquatic ecosystem that makes it harder to break down toxic substances. However this is the first time I've ever heard that stoners are destroying the global water supply with all their tainted urine.

It should also be noted that while the researchers were able to remove the metabolites from marijuana user's urine to create electricity, they were also able to do so with people who were completely drug free as well. In fact, the urine of people without any marijuana in their system was able to conduct electricity with a maximum voltage of 0.35 volts. So using marijuana actually lowers the ability of your urine to conduct electricity.

We're sure this will affect your life at some point down the road.
