Las Vegas Allows First 24/7 Marijuana Dispensary

New York City may be known as the city that never sleeps, but we all know there's a place where something's happening 24/7 besides the Big Apple: Las Vegas! And now a marijuana dispensary in Las Vegas will also not get any sleep.

The Las Vegas city council approved a proposal to allow Oasis Cannabis to become the first marijuana dispensary to be open 24/7. City laws say that dispensaries must close between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. every day.

One city councilman asked why Oasis needed the extra three hours. After all, how many people are really looking to visit a dispensary at 4:30 in the morning? Oasis Cannabis' CEO Benjamin Sillitoe noted that several businesses around his operate 24/7, meaning he often has to shoo customers out at 3 a.m. and a line forms before doors open at 6. He also noted that Clark County dispensaries will soon be allowed to stay open 24/7 as well and North Las Vegas already allows it, and if his dispensary doesn't do the same, he could lose out on business.  The council agreed with Sillitoe and allowed his shop to remain open 24/7.

So now that means you can stumble out of the casino after 4 a.m. having lost hundreds of dollars and be able to enjoy some legal marijuana. It won't bring your gambling losses back, but it will make you feel better about it.

Latest.

Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) isn't the most vocal cannabis advocate on the 2020 presidential campaign trail, but you shouldn't take that as a lack of support for marijuana legalization. Unlike many of the top contenders for the upcoming Democratic primaries, Ryan hasn't filed any of his own cannabis legalization bills.
