What Is Kevin Smith’s ‘Massive’ Big-Budget Mystery Project?

Writer, director, raconteur and cannabis enthusiast Kevin Smith always seems to have something on the go. But an Instagram post from this morning suggests that Smith may be taking a big leap into the world of big-budget moviemaking.

So what could that IP (intellectual property for all you non-nerds out there) possibly be? Deadline points out that Smith took to Twitter to shoot down a couple of rumors:

But that still leaves DC’s stable of caped crusaders as a distinct possibility. In recent years, Smith has directed episodes of the TV adaptations of ‘Supergirl’ and ‘The Flash’. And he famously wrote a script for an aborted Superman film back in the 1990s:

We’ll have to wait and see. For now, the comments on the Instagram post are worth reading, as Smith fans are racking their brains - often with their tongues planted firmly in their cheeks - about what he could be cooking up. Other than DC comic characters, suggestions include a long-overdue Buckaroo Banzai sequel, Titanic 2, and a Rainbow Brite movie.

Or perhaps we’ll be getting a Jay and Silent Bob extended cinematic universe? Time will tell.
