7 Incredible Marijuana Strains You've Never Heard Of

When people list their favorite marijuana strains, it’s always ones you’ve already heard about. OG Kush, Girl Scout Cookies, Granddaddy Purple, etc. At this point they all just blend together. Luckily there are great marijuana strains that you’ve probably never heard of.

Here are the seven best strains you don’t know exist:

1. Mendocino Purps

Mendocino Purps is one of the classic purple cannabis strains, but it isn’t quite as popular as Granddaddy Purple or other similarly colored strains. It’s not clear why, considering this strain has a great taste that resembles caramel coffee. And you know how much people love coffee.

2. Bubba OG

Bubba OG is a strain that combines the best qualities of two popular strains. It combines the great taste of Bubba Kush with the strong potency of Ghost OG. It’s a literal best of both worlds.

3. Four Way

Four Way is a strain descended from four classic strains to make one awesome one. It’s known to be one of the skunkiest strains out there, but it also has a spicy and exotic taste like its Indian and Pakistani origins would suggest. It’s definitely a strain you’d think people would want more of.

4. Sweet Tooth

Sweet Tooth actually won the 2001 Cannabis Cup, so if you’re a hardcore Cannabis Cup researcher, you’ve probably heard of it. Otherwise, you’ve probably never heard of it and its sweet berries flavor with the smell of fresh flowers. It’s truly a delight.

5. NYC Diesel

When you think of marijuana and diesel, you probably think of Sour Diesel. But NYC Diesel is known to be a little less harsh on the diesel flavor and more heavy on citrusy taste. It’s also won five Cannabis Cups, so you know it’s going to be ok.

6. Hawaiian Snow

While Hawaiian Snow seems like a good nickname for cocaine, it’s actually a cannabis strain that combines Neville’s Haze, Pure Haze and Hawaiian Haze into one package. It’s known to be a super potent strain, but has a nice citrus and tropical taste as well.

7. Amnesia Haze

Haze strains tend to be more popular in The Netherlands than in the United States, where Kush and OG strains dominate. Amnesia Haze is one of the most popular strains in Amsterdam for its uplifting effects and citrus taste. But it’s not quite as popular in North America.

For new and experienced cannabis consumers looking for a new way to discover products, look no further than the Cannabiscope Wheel. Civilized caught up with co-founders David Schachter and Paul Shockley to learn how the idea came to them, what they hope for the future of the company, and how cannabis industry folk and consumers are already benefiting from the service. How did you get the idea for Cannabiscope?I had the idea while on vacation in Amsterdam in 2014 when I heard author Doug Fine (who's now an advisor to Cannabiscope) speak at the High Times Cannabis Cup.
