How Taylor Swift And A Stoned Dave Grohl Ended Up Duetting In Front Of Paul McCartney

Folks, it's time to finalize the details for your New Year's Eve party. Make sure you've got plenty of hors d'oeuvres, put your champagne on ice...oh, and make sure Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl and Taylor Swift on hand to entertain.

Don't have that last one? Ah well. You can live vicariously through Grohl's retelling of one hell of a party. As he told Entertainment Weekly, McCartney - the "baddest motherfucker on the planet," in Grohl's estimation - sat at the piano and began rocking out a brand new song. When he finished, the crowd looked to Grohl for more.

“Well, I don’t know how to play piano. Like, I don’t know what to do, man! I can’t play fucking piano!” Grohl recalls thinking. “And then I look around and Paul McCartney’s left-handed, so all the guitars are left-handed. ‘Shit! God, I’m screwed! What do I do?’ And also, I’d maybe smoked a little pot, so…I was already challenged enough.”

But much to Grohl's relief, Taylor Swift stepped in to save the day. As Swift played, Grohl tried out one of McCartney's left-handed basses to back T-Swift. And then he had a moment of realization - Swift was playing the Foo Fighters' hit song "Best Of You".

“And as if I weren’t high enough, that fucking blew me into outer space, man!” Grohl said. “It was like, wait a second. Taylor Swift. 'Best of You.' Paul McCartney. Pot! Like, what? I just lost my mind…"

There's no video of the Grohl-Swift duet itself, unfortunately. But you can watch Dave tell the story and sing the song below:

Last December, America officially legalized hemp with the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill. The new law is a game-changer for the agricultural industry in America as farmers can now start growing and selling the non-intoxicating cannabis crop across the country. But it will be a while before the United States can top the world's biggest hemp producer.
