Anyone who's ever flown anywhere knows it can be a pain. There never seem to be flights at convenient times at convenient prices. You have to take a 5 a.m. flight from New York to Los Angeles to get in early in the morning on the West Coast. Who's bright idea was that? And why do you need to have a layover in Dallas when you're flying to Oregon from Tennessee? It seems completely illogical!

Believe it or not, airlines actually do put thought into how they schedule their flight. The video above explains how and why airlines schedule their flights as well as the purpose of various airports around the country.

The video not only provides a lot of interesting information, but it also educates frequent fliers to some of the many complexities of how airports and airlines run. So next time you're inconvenienced at O'Hare International Airport, you'll understand why your flight's being delayed three hours.

But just because you understand it doesn't mean you have to like it.
