With one of the most familiar voices in the world, actor Morgan Freeman is one of the most respected and liked figures in TV and film. After serving several years in the U.S. Air Force as a mechanic, Freeman continued his work on the theater stage. In 1978, he earned a Tony Award nomination for his performance in “The Mighty Gents”. He returned to Broadway again in 2008 to star in “The Country Girl” alongside Frances McDormand and Peter Gallagher. He then appeared in several TV shows, eventually making his feature film debut in “Who Says I Can’t Ride a Rainbow!” in 1971. His career continued to rise in the ‘80s, earning him his first Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for the 1987 film “Street Smart”. His star continued to rise in the 1990’s, earning him more Oscar nominations for “Driving Miss Daisy” and “The Shawshank Redemption”. He finally won an Academy Award in 2005 for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for “Million Dollar Baby” alongside Hillary Swank and Clint Eastwood. Most recently, Freeman has starred and appeared in a number of TV and films including “Madame Secretary”, “Ted 2”, and “Going in Style” with Michael Cain and Alan Arkin.
Though his voice has become familiar in movies and TV, it’s also becoming familiar in the marijuana community. Freeman has admitted that he supports the legalization of marijuana for a number of reasons. First, when asked how he prefers to consume marijuana he said, “How do I take it? However it comes! I’ll eat it, drink it, smoke it, snort it! This movement is really a long time coming, and it’s getting legs—longer legs.” Other than simply enjoying it for its recreational purposes, Freeman consumes marijuana for its medicinal properties, “I have fibromyalgia pain in this arm, and the only thing that offers any relief is marijuana.”
