Does Mindy Kaling Smoke Weed?

Mindy Kaling is a comedian and writer most known for her roles on “The Office” and her show, “The Mindy Project”. After graduating from Dartmouth College with a degree in playwriting, she moved to Brooklyn, New York where she worked as a production assistant on a psychic show. Then, in 2002 Kaling co-wrote the play “Matt & Ben” about Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s friendship and “Good Will Hunting” with her best friend from college, Brenda Withers. Together, Kaling and Withers portrayed Matt and Ben in their stage performances which got the attention of Time Magazine and Greg Daniels, the creator of “The Office”. Daniels soon hired Kaling as a writer and performer on the show, and she quickly made a name for herself not only as the only female writer, but as a unique writer, “She's very original ... If anything feels phony or lazy or passé, she’ll pounce on it.” She also made a name for herself through her portrayal of Kelly Kapoor, the office chatterbox who still talks like a teenage girl. Before the show ended, Kaling left to write and star in her own show for Fox, “The Mindy Project” following  obstetrician/gynecologist Mindy Lahiri as she tries to balance her personal and professional life in a small medical practice swarming with quirky co-workers. Then, Fox cancelled her show in 2015 but Hulu quickly picked it up for two more seasons. In addition to acting in her own work, Kaling appears in a number of movies including “This Is the End” with Seth Rogen and James Franco, “Inside Out” alongside Amy Poehler and Bill Hader, “A Wrinkle in Time” with Oprah and Reese Witherspoon, and “Ocean’s Eight” alongside Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, and Sarah Paulson.

When asked what woman she would smoke marijuana with, Kaling responded, “Rihanna. Rihanna’s pretty cool to work with. She feels like she might enjoy that with me.” This may come as a surprise to some though because according to her co-star Ike Barinholtz, "Mindy never smokes pot… she just doesn't." This didn’t stop him from giving her an edible though, and it certainly didn’t stop her from eating it because apparently one day production had to break for lunch early because Kaling needed some time to “sleep off” the edible.

Some try to predict the future by reading tea leaves, but Bill Maher turned to a different type of leaf to figure out who would be the ultimate candidate for the 2020 election. The 'Real Time' host recently revealed that the ideal candidate dawned on him one night when he was having a puff of weed and wondering who had the best chance to defeat Donald Trump in 2020. Like many pundits, Maher has obsessed over this question ever since Trump's surprise win over Hilary Clinton in 2016.
