Does Anne Hathaway Smoke Weed?

Born in Brooklyn, New York, actress and singer Anne Hathaway got her start in 2001 in her very first feature film role, “The Princess Diaries”, alongside the very talented Julie Andrews, Hector Elizondo, and Mandy Moore. Just like her character Mia Thermopolis, who became Princess of Genovia, Anne Hathaway gained recognition from this role and blossomed into a leading actress. Following her roles in a number of family-friends films, including the sequel, “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement”, Hathaway moved on to more serious films including “Brokeback Mountain” opposite Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal. She then continued to star in a number of comedies including “The Devil Wears Prada” with Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt, “Get Smart” alongside Steve Carell, and “Bride Wars” opposite Kate Hudson and Chris Pratt. Then, in 2012, she gained even more recognition for her role in “Les Misérables” as Fantine, which earned her an Academy Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role.

In 2013, the year after winning her Oscar, rumors claimed that Hathaway smokes marijuana because pictures were circulating of her seen smoking a blunt. On the Bravo show “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen”, Andy Cohen confronts her about this on his game “Plead the Fifth” by asking, “There was a rumor in 2013 that a photo exists and was circulating of you with a massive blunt. On a scale of 1 to 10, how big of a stoner is Anne Hathaway?” After taking a sip of liquid courage, Hathaway responded with a big grin, “Not a little one”, which she continued to clarify, “But here’s the thing, though. I’m a parent and I don’t feel like getting arrested, so I’m going to say zero… I guess I should’ve just pleaded the Fifth on that one.” She also admitted that she doesn’t even have a medical card, so even if she does consume marijuana, she wouldn’t be able to get it herself.

After a battery of tests and misdiagnoses, I was finally diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease twelve years ago, and thus began a long battle with trial-and-error medical treatments. I changed my diet several times, even though my doctors didn’t seem confident it would change much (it didn’t), went to physical therapy for pain-related issues, and took so many different pharmaceuticals I can’t even begin to recall each and every one. My days were foggy due to side effects from pharmaceuticals, such as steroids, that made me feel worse than I did before I even took them.
