'Dazed and Confused' Director Helms Anti-Ted Cruz Ad

Richard Linklater, the director behind 'Dazed and Confused' and 'Boyhood' helmed a video rebuttal to Cruz’s claim that he is "Tough as Texas" as part of a new campaign to "Fire Ted Cruz".

Although Linklater’s name is not on the ad itself, it displays the 'Slacker' director’s distinct flair for capturing unique characters with colorful personalities.

The one-minute spot features actor Sonny Carl Davis reprising his role from Linklater’s 2011 film 'Bernie', to dismiss the Cruz campaign slogan.

"I mean, come on, if somebody called my wife a dog and said my daddy was in on the Kennedy assassination, I wouldn't be kissing their ass," Davis says. "You stick a finger in their chest and give them a few choice words, or you drag their ass out by the woodshed and kick their ass, Ted."

The ad states that it isn’t funded by any candidate or candidate’s committee, but its implied support of Beto O’Rourke is consistent with the growing celebrity support of the rising Democratic candidate.

Hiding behind big sunglasses, I slunk to my car and started the engine. The bag containing a month’s worth of flower and edibles that I had just bought at Weedology, a legal dispensary in Ontario, Oregon was stuffed hastily into my bag; I dared not unseal it to survey the goods. Though my heart was pounding, I forced myself to cut a slow track out of the parking lot.
