10 Countries That Smoke the Most Weed

When you think of countries where marijuana is popular, you probably think about the United States or The Netherlands or other places where marijuana has become a hot topic. But just because a country has permissive cannabis laws doesn’t mean everyone’s toking up. So which countries smoke the most marijuana?

Lucky for us, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime collected the data and determined the countries with the highest percentage of the population uses marijuana. Here’s the top 10:

10. Zambia

9.5% of the population use marijuana

9. Australia

10.2% of the population use marijuana

8. Bermuda

10.9% of the population use marijuana

7. New Zealand

11% of the population use marijuana

6. France

11.1% of the population use marijuana

5. Chile

11.83% of the population use marijuana

4. Canada

12.7% of the population use marijuana

3. Nigeria

14.3% of the population use marijuana

2. United States of America

16.3% of the population use marijuana

1. Iceland

18.3% of the population use marijuana

Most of these countries do not have legalized marijuana and yet have pretty large populations using the drug. Perhaps this just goes to show that no matter what the laws are, people around the world will find a way to use cannabis.

Saying you work in cannabis is sure to raise some eyebrows. Some people might be curious, others might not take you seriously, and still others might ask how they can invest. These cannabis executives dish on the reactions they get when they say they work in the space, and how those reactions have evolved over the past 10 years.
