While other municipalities in Colorado have placed restrictions on cannabis grow facilities in the legalized state, a small, economically depressed town named Walsenburg has taken a very different approach. Town leaders have partnered with a company called Martra Holdings to design and construct a huge greenhouse facility covering 300-plus acres, specifically for the cannabis industry.

The town also has a unique approach to revenue from the facility. They've waived all taxes, and plan to make money by selling growers town water. They also hope the facility will bring 1,000 jobs to the town. ReasonTV produced this short documentary on Walsenburg's creative and entrepreneurial attempt to revive the local economy:
