“One Book, One New York” is the largest community reading program in the country. The program launched in February 2017 in New York to create a greater sense of community among readers. Leading up to the book selection, New Yorkers could vote online for one of five books chosen. After all the votes were tallied, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s “Americanah” was chosen as the book everyone would read together. For the next few months, the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment will offer free book events for readers, leading up to the final event in June with Adichie herself.
