Are You a Flower Lover Who’s Yet to Embrace Vaping? Try This Pen. Seriously.

For flower aficionados, finding a vape that actually sates us can be as difficult as, well, getting a good hit from a sub-par pen. To be sure, the discretion and convenience of vape pens make them an attractive option. Cannabis users who find it hard to find a pen that lives up to the flavor and functionality of good-old-fashioned flower will be relieved to find that there is finally a pen for them.

Eden Extracts’ Diamond Line pens are next-level vapes that deliver a substantial hit that you can actually feel — one that is closer to the sensation of smoking. They also have a refreshingly earthy taste to them, which offers that sensory connection to the plant that flower enthusiasts are so drawn to. These two aspects of the pen make them an excellent option for anyone who’s looking to cut back on smoking or to give it up altogether.

The company, which began by making in-house distillates for its popular San Francisco-area dispensary Garden of Eden, also makes a more value-priced pen called its Gem Line. The Diamond Line, however, is the crown jewel of Eden Extracts, and it’s worth spending a little extra for.

"We knew we had to raise the bar in a couple different ways," Nick Rose, head of marketing and distribution for Eden Extracts told Civilized. "What we were trying to create is a better experience, plain and simple."

EE pen
In order to create a pen that stood out in the saturated market of vapes — and one that consumers would be willing to pay around fifty dollars for (versus many cheaper options), the team at Eden Extracts looked at everything from its distillate to the experience of unboxing a Diamond Line pen.

"We clean up our distillate. It’s very clear. That’s kind of our secret sauce. We distill our distillate two, maybe three times," said Rose. "We charcoal filter the extract. There are a couple proprietary techniques we use that get it crystal clear, like water in a jar. Then, we take perfectly clean, high-THC distillate, and steep it in cannabis-derived terpenes. This allows all of the flavor from the terpenes that we reintroduce to shine through. We’re able to get a really clean, smooth high from that distillate, with tons of flavor."

This clear, pure taste is indeed what will make the pens a hit for anyone who likes to savor the flavor profile of whatever they’re smoking.

The other stand-out feature of the pens? Their strong, satisfying hits, which are also a product of careful design by the company.

"[The Diamond Line] cartridge is custom-designed by us," said Rose. "We were unhappy with the standard look and feel and design of the normal vape cartridge. It’s a top-airflow cartridge, and we also increased the hole size on the mouthpiece. You’re able to draw in a lot more air — breath it in, rather than trying to suck on it really hard. You can get larger hits from it because of the increased airflow. It also cools the hit down, so it doesn’t get as hot or build up this chamber of harsh smoke in the tube."

Packaging for the Diamond Line pen is as sleek and futuristic as the pen itself, and opening one is a bit reminiscent of that satisfying sensation of unboxing a fresh new iPhone. Indeed, the aesthetic for the pens and packaging are an extension of the Garden of Eden brick and mortar location.

"Our retail store is very modern," said Rose. "It has a simple color scheme, and that’s how we tried to keep the product as well. A little bit Apple-esque."

The Diamond Line pens are indeed an update we can get behind.
