Admission to National Parks Will be Free on 4/20 - But You Should Leave the Weed at Home

Wilderness lovers are in for a real treat when National Park Week kicks off on Saturday. Every single national park in the USA will offer free admission. That means if you've been holding off on going to see the Grand Canyon (or any number of America's other beautiful parks) because you didn't want to pay the $35 entrance fee, now's a good time to do so. Just don't bring your weed with you - even if you're hiking through a national park in a legal state.

As every cannabis consumer knows, this Saturday marks another event that is near and dear to many cannabis consumers: 4/20. And while heading out for a hike in the Yosemite Valley with a couple of joints might sound like a great way to spend the afternoon, it's actually a really bad idea. That's because all national parks are considered federal land under US law. So marijuana is outlawed in all parks - even those in legal states like Colorado and California - thanks to federal prohibition. Under federal law, getting caught with small amounts of cannabis can land you with a prison sentence of up to one year and a maximum fine of $1,000.

Now, we're definitely not saying that you shouldn't go check out any national parks in your area—you really should. We're just saying that you should seriously consider leaving your stash at home for relaxing after the hike, not during. Otherwise, your day trip could turn into a prison sentence.

After a battery of tests and misdiagnoses, I was finally diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease twelve years ago, and thus began a long battle with trial-and-error medical treatments. I changed my diet several times, even though my doctors didn’t seem confident it would change much (it didn’t), went to physical therapy for pain-related issues, and took so many different pharmaceuticals I can’t even begin to recall each and every one. My days were foggy due to side effects from pharmaceuticals, such as steroids, that made me feel worse than I did before I even took them.

Can we see some ID please?
