$40,000 Worth Of Marijuana Discovered Inside Golf Bags Along Texas Border

US Customs and Border Protection officials announced Monday that they had confiscated a high volume of marijuana concealed in golf supplies along the border between Brownsville, Texas and Mexico.

Officials say they discovered 50 pounds of pot stuffed into three separate golf bags. The contraband was estimated to be worth $40,000, or just barely enough weed to make golf interesting.

In an attempt to make the effect more convincing, each of the bags had a couple of clubs sticking out. Although clearly, if you’re just golfing with a 7-iron and a putter, you aren’t taking the sport very seriously.

Authorities said that Border Patrol agents were prompted to search the area after they spotted several men swimming across the Rio Grande into Mexico.

Man, those water traps will get you every time.

It is believed that the smugglers were attempting to carry the marijuana-filled bags into the a nearby golf course, but abandoned them when they caught wind of trouble.

Last December, America officially legalized hemp with the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill. The new law is a game-changer for the agricultural industry in America as farmers can now start growing and selling the non-intoxicating cannabis crop across the country. But it will be a while before the United States can top the world's biggest hemp producer.
