3 Pros and 3 Cons of Smoking from a Bong

Bongs can be made from basically anything that creates an air- and water-tight vessel, making them one of the most popular pieces in which to smoke marijuana. The bubbling water, smoke chambers, and bowls aren’t quite as intimidating as they seem because bongs come in all shapes and sizes, each smoking and pulling in a unique way. For this reason, some bongs are better than others, but overall, even though they are common among users, bongs aren’t always the best way to smoke marijuana, because every piece has its pros and cons.

First let’s start with a positive, which is that water in bongs trap heavier particles, so water-soluble molecules and toxins don’t enter the airway, which makes for a cleaner and smoother smoke. This does come with its fault though, because this water filtration process traps THC,  “Water pipes filter out more psychoactive THC than they do other tars, thereby requiring users to smoke more to reach their desired effect,” according to 2000 NORML-MAPS study. The water has more pros though, because it cools the smoke, which makes it easier to inhale, especially the bongs with ice chambers, making for an even colder and smoother smoke.

Marijuana reform is coming to the US Virgin Islands as well as Trinidad and Tobago after both groups of Caribbean islands changed their cannabis laws recently. US Virgin IslandsThis week, the US Virgin Islands' newly elected governor Albert Bryan Jr. (D) signed a bill legalizing medical marijuana in the US territory. The legalization movement has been steadily growing in the Virgin Islands since 2014 when voters approved a referendum in favor of legalizing the substance.
