Every marijuana user has his or her preferred way of consuming cannabis whether is be a joint, pipe, bong, edible, or vape. Edibles are a tasty and popular way to consume cannabis, so much that some consumers prefer it to any other way of ingesting marijuana, simply because it doesn’t require any kind of smoking. Edibles also create a different high experience than when smoking because the THC goes through a different system before effecting a consumer. The effects do take time to feel, which is also why some people don’t consume edibles, so just like any other method of consumption, edibles have a list of both pros and cons.

First, edibles create a longer lasting high experience that can last anywhere from three to seven hours. This is caused by a number of factors, but mainly because the edible must be digested before the THC goes into the bloodstream. Then because they’re digested differently, edibles create a stronger high because the THC passes through the liver, which converts THC to a different psychoactive form than when smoked. Once high, the feeling lasts anywhere from three to seven hours, making for a more constant high that lasts all three to four hours, compared to the high from smoking, which constantly spikes and falls.
