2 Chainz Launching His Own Cannabis Brand

Musicians and marijuana are two things that go together like peanut butter and jelly. So it's no surprise that artists such as Snoop Dogg, Willie Nelson and even Jimmy Buffett are creating their own cannabis brands. And it looks like one popular rapper is now joining them.

2 Chainz announced that he's launching his own cannabis brand called Gas Cannabis Co. The company will produce three strains of marijuana named after the types of gas you can purchase at your local station. The 87 line will be the most affordable, the 89 line will be for people who want a "supercharged and powerful" but also a "smooth ride," and the 93 line will be the highest quality. The "GAS" in the name is actually an acronym for "Good Ass Shit."

“I know quality GAS by the look, the feel, the smoke," 2 Chainz said. "GAS stands for one thing, and you’ll know it when you experience it. It’s top-end, but at an affordable price, because I want everyone to be able to understand that GAS is the real fire.”

The company says they will also produce edibles, topicals, concentrates and other products in the near future.

Gas Cannabis Company products will start off in a dispensary in Van Nuys, California, although you'll probably be able to sample it if you somehow get on the 2 Chainz tour bus as well.

CBD is all the rage these days, but in fact, the non-intoxicating cannabinoid — reportedly useful in quelling seizures, anxiety, insomnia, inflammation, pain, and other ailments — works better when it's in the presence of THC, the cannabis plant's primary, psychoactive compound. That's thanks to the entourage effect: the symbiotic relationship among all the compounds in cannabis, causing each of them to work better when they're in the presence of the others. According to Dr. Ethan Russo, who wrote the research paper Taming THC, a 1:1 ratio of CBD:THC is more effective for pain management.
